It was on the 29th of September 2022 when the Taiwan government officially announced to the public that the Free Visa Entry for the Filipinos is renewed until the 31st of July, 2023. On October 13, the quarantine protocol was replaced with self initiated health check for tourists and finally on the 1st of December, the wearing of facemask outdoor is no longer a must.
With the step by step leniency on the protocols for Covid-19 pandemic, tourists from all parts of the globe are attracted to visit Taiwan. However, as a Filipino Tourist in Taiwan, how can one enjoy the 14 days free visa entry? Given the beauty of Taiwan, certainly two weeks isn’t enough.

Day 1 Arrival Taoyuan International Airport to the Hotel
Since the first day is always a hectic day, the best place to visit first is the famous Taipei 101. Why? Well, this famous skyscraper is located at Xinyi District, it’s one of the area in Taipei that never sleeps so you can actually enjoy the whole day here shopping until you drop. All the luxury brands and popular fashion chains is here. You can walk the whole night, eat and get back to the hotel with a contended heart for the first day.
Apart from the shopping spree at Xinyi District, you can also see street artists that are truly talented and as a tourist at heart, I never get tired of witnessing their acts every chance I have.

Day 2 Taipei Sight Seeing Bus
There’s nothing beats the Taipei Sightseeing Bus Hop on and Hop off tour! The best way to enjoy the metropolitan with less hassles. Here’s the best tip you’ll ever get and you guys can thank me later. Of course, the best way to do is to buy the 24 Hour pass. What does it mean? It means by buying this ticket, you can actually just hop off the destination and then wait for the bus to hop on again and go to the next destination. There are time tables on the stops so you know when exactly to wait for the next bus.

Day 3 Tamsui District
Tamsui is the most romantic place in Taiwan but apart from its beauty, it is also rich with tourist attractions and history. A day spent in Tamsui wouldn’t be enough but it will surely be worth the visit.
All you have to do is to take the Red line MRT Tamsui. It’s the terminal station so you won’t get lost for sure. Then follow this itinerary for an amazing Tamsui experience.
- From the MRT go to Exit 3 to the Riverside Park, you can walk if you like or it is best to rent a bicycle at the station near the skating rink. It is affordable so you would surely enjoy the place.
- Take a walk or a bike following the riverside park. Along the street you’ll see street foods and shops which you can actually just stop and grab what you prefer.
- Stop at the Ferry Port to Tamsui Fisherman’s Valentine Bridge. You can buy a ticket at the booth or use an easy card for it. Do you know that you can actually buy a pass at the station? It is convenient and cheap for tourists. It will allow you to enjoy public transportation nationwide. So it is smart to buy a pass depending on how many days you wish to stay in Taiwan. If it expires, you can buy another pass at any MRT station. That easy.
- You can actually bring the bicycle in the ferry ride so it won’t be a problem. Arriving at Tamsui Fisherman’s Valentine Bridge, you will have to walk to park you bike at the parking area. It is your choice because this time, you will have to get your camera and capture the amazing and breathtaking view. After taking pictures, just line up again at the port, and you’ll be back at Tamsui Riverside Park in no time.

- After the hearty lunch, you can walk at Fort Santo Domingo. This is a must to all tourists so you gotta come and see this historic place.
- After an amazing picture taking at Fort Santo Domingo, you can walk to Small White Castle to witness another gem in Tamsui. By visiting these two attractions, you will witness the British and Japanese influence in the land of Formosa, Taiwan.
- These two historical place would be enough for the day, even if there are a lot more to explore in Tamsui, this time walk back to Tamsui Old Street and experience the night market and delicacies. It is a must to buy the iron egg, the fluffy cake and of course the fish cracker in Tamsui because these are the best in the place.
- You can wait until night and enjoy walking around Yin Zhuon Road and the City Plaza Mall for dinner and another shopping spree.
Extra tip for Tamsui: You can also ride a ferry to BALI. Yes we have Bali in Taiwan. It’s just a few minutes ferry ride so it’s so convenient. You can ride a ferry from Tamsui Riverside Park to Bali. With your bicycle, you can stroll the place quick and then head back to Tamsui.
Day 4 to 6 HSR to Kaohsiung
Filipinos can actually reach Kaohsiung directly from Manila. If you happen to take a flight direct to Kaohsiung, you can just reverse this itinerary list and still enjoy your stay.
There are so many beautiful places in Kaohsiung and I’m pretty sure you’ll understand Taiwan Culture more if you spend a day or two in this place.

Day 7 to 9 HSR from Kaohsiung to Yilan
Yilan is the garden of Taipei. Locals go here for a quick getaway from the pressure of life in the capital. It’s Yilan where you can actually immerse in the local life and do extreme sports like scuba diving, surfing and paragliding. In short, you’ll be experiencing life to the fullest in Yilan.

Day 10 to 13 From Yilan to the North Coast
