What is PhilTai Organization?
PhilTai is a unique name created by Gen Huang 黃琦妮 the founder of the said organization. Phil stands for the Philippines and Tai is for Taiwan. The name PhilTai represents the union of the two countries through marriage. Chini Huang or Gen is married to a Taiwanese, Leo Huang in February 2007 and after a few months, Gen created a network organization and called it PhilTai Organization.

Gen or also known as Chini Huang, the founder of PhilTai Organization, is a graduate of Bachelor of Secondary Education with Social Science as her specialization from Cebu Normal University, Cebu, Philippines. She is also a Licensed Teacher in the Philippines passing the LET or Licensure Examination for Teachers in 2006. Her major, Social Science was known at her time as the most difficult to pass the LET exam so this is why Gen considered herself lucky to be able to get a passing score at her first try.
Gen said, “During the LET Examination, BEED or Bachelor of Elementary Education examinees will answer the test questionnaire only for a half day while BSED examinees will do it for a whole day. The afternoon schedule is for the major subject. In my time, when we had to take the Social Science test paper, the proctor asked if how many were first timers and there was only 3 or 4 of us who raised our hands. The rest took the Social Science LET Exam from 2 to 6 times.”
Gen was so stunned to learn that Social Science majors had difficulty passing the Licensure exam and for her to be able to accomplish and took the Philippine Professional Teachers Oath at first try was a miracle. She also added jokingly that the reason why she knew she will pass was one question in her major subject that wrote, ” Who is the best Teacher of all time?” Gen smiled and said, the options were there and her sure answer was letter C that gave the name, Jesus.
As a believer of Jesus Christ and the almighty God, she was certain that she was enlightened on that day and that God’s plan for her was to pass the exam.
PhilTai Organization The Union
The creation of this online organization called PHILTAI Organization was inspired by Gen’s friend who is also married to a Taiwanese. Gen said, “She would share to me all her shortcomings and the hardships she experienced in Taiwan and many other Filipinas who are married to a Taiwanese so I created PhilTai Organization as an online network to those fellow Filipinos who needed a family.”
PhilTai Organization Online Network was first established on Friendster on the 2nd of April 2007. It was a whirlwind success for the number of network members reached more than a hundred. Gen never had thought that Filipinas married to Taiwanese were that many. Up to now it has been known in Taiwan that here are few Filipino spouses compared to other Southeast Asians.
After an attempt of hacking Gen’s Friendster profile, she decided to deactivate the account and use Facebook. Since then, Facebook has been the most effective platform for her advocacy.

As a woman who grew up in an environment in Cebu where everything is possible with hardwork, Gen aka Chini Huang, the founder and host of Hello PhilTai Tv knew exactly what she wanted for PhilTai Organization. She had the mission and vision of creating an environment online that would make the Filipinos feel at home.
The motto, “We are family” literally means offering a family to every Filipinos who need one. This also explained why the main role of PHILTAI in Taiwan is a life coach to anyone who seeks counseling and advice in many aspects.

PhilTai Organization to PhilTai Foundation
In the year 2016, the network had evolved from a simple and exclusive organization to an inclusive online foundation. The main reason behind the big leap was the increase of audience, readers and friends on PhilTai Organization page and forum. There were not only Filipino spouses helping out with the program, foreign workers and locals too are sharing their blessings to the special charitable programs the group have.
