1. Tamsui Fisherman’s Wharf

Fisherman’s Wharf, formerly known as Tamsui Second Fishing Port, is located at the right bank of the river mouth of Tamsui River and is well known for its sunset. Differing from traditional fixed docks, the dock floats with the tide. It can accommodate 150 fishing boats concurrently, which is very spectacular. Besides enjoying sunset at the Fisherman’s Wharf, visitors can also visit the not-to-be-missed Lover’s Bridge, travel on the blue highway by ferry, enjoy the beautiful fishing port along the wooden boardwalk, or ascend Lover’s Tower to enjoy Tamsui scenery.

At the entrance of Lover’s Tower on the first floor is a big red heart-shaped sculpture, “Love in Tamsui.” As colorful lights shine on it at night, the place becomes extremely romantic. 3. Fort San Domingo

This is Tamsui’s most prominent monument to foreign involvement in Taiwan. First built in 1629 by the Spanish, Fort San Domingo was intended to aid the imposition of Spanish rule over the local Chinese and aboriginal populations in northern Taiwan.

This fort was captured by the Dutch in 1642 when they drove the Spanish from the island. They replaced the Spanish-built stockade with a fort made of stone. The fort became known as the “Hongmao Castle” (Fort of the Red Heads) in reference to the colorful locks of its Dutch occupants.

In 1867, the British leased the fort and undertook massive renovations, which included the construction of the imposing British Consulate in the eastern section of the fortress compound. Its red brick verandah and red roof tiles complement the color scheme and design of the fort.

4. Danhai Light Train

The system currently consists of 14 stations, with 6 additional stations planned. Tracks are at ground level and elevated. The total length will be 13.99 kilometres (8.69 mi).

The Hongshulin–Kanding section opened in December 2018.Trains run from Hongshulin Station northward and turn west along Zhongzheng East Road, Highway No. 2, Binhai Road and Shalun Road.^[13][14] Seven of its eleven stations are elevated, with the remaining four at ground level. The bike sharing service YouBike is available at seven stations.

A two-kilometre (1.2 mi) branch with three stations opened in November 2020. The branch runs from Tamsui Fisherman’s Wharf, turns eastward to join the Kanding branch, with which it shares 1.21 kilometres (0.75 mi) and three stops.The line follows Highway No. 2B, Binhai Road, and Shalun Road. 5. Hobe Fort

6. Tamsui Red Castle

This beautiful Chinese Restaurant and Cafe is a good place to relax and enjoy good food in Tamsui. This 124 years old Red Castle is truly a gem in Tamsui. One of the most famous stuffs to do here is the Tea Time. They have a special set for the guests to use to experience authentic and traditional tea time.

7. Xiao Bai Gong or Little White House or Tamsui’s Custom Officer’s Office

In 1858, following the Second Opium War, Taiwan was forced to open its ports for trade under the Beijing and the Tienjin Treaties. 4 years later, a customs office was established in Tamsui following the opening of Tamsui Port. Initially, there were only a few foreign customs officers, most of whom lived in the customs office building or rental houses nearby. Tamsui Customs administration then purchased a piece of land in 1866 and subsequently built official staff residences in 1869. 

The building has a square layout and a splendid view of the Tamsui River and Mt. Guanyin. The foundation of the building is elevated 3 feet high, which allows humidity to be carried away through the square-shaped ventilation holes by the flowing breeze. The structure is a classic colonial-style building known as a “bungalow.” It was nicknamed “Xiao Bai Gong,” meaning “Little White House” due to its ash-white appearance. It features ash-white outer walls, a terrace with a magnificent view, a veranda with arched columns, and a vintage fireplace. 8. Tamsui MRT Park

Pets are allowed in Tamsui MRT Park

Tamsui MRT Park has become much more friendlier to the public. It used to have 2 exits only and recently they added Exit 3 for the tourists. The view is most definitely breathtaking! Love sunsets? Come to Tamsui!

9. Shalun Ocean Park

This is Shalun Ocean Park in Tamsui District, New Taipei City. This is popular to the Taiwanese people because it really is an amazing and fun place to spend with the family, partner, friends and most of all for the kids. Although this has been closed for quite a time now due to the accidents that had happened here but it is still open to anyone who wanted to witness the beautiful ocean. It is ok to have a picnic and have some sand castles but strictly no swimming.

10. Xiao Bai Gong (Outside Park)

This is like a mini park outside Xiao Bai Gong and this place means a lot to me ‘coz this was where I waited for my kids almost everyday when they were still in the kindergarten.
