Amazing Places you must visit in Cebu 2024
Amazing Places you must visit in Cebu 2024
After 7 years finally I was able to visit Cebu again! The homecoming was delayed due to my international travels and the overstaying pandemic. This 2024, the world seems to be Covid-free so I believe it’s the perfect time to get a visa to the Philippines and fly to Cebu during the Chinese New Year long holiday break.
Of all the places in this wonderful world, Why Cebu?
Cebu is close to my heart because I am a Cebuana. Being born in Cebu made that version of me that’s optimistic and patriotic. I can’t imagine not being a Sugbuanon. I love Cebu that much that I always take pride announcing and promoting the place of my birth in Taiwan.
Where is Cebu?
Cebu is located at Central Visayas Region. The Philippines has Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao regions and Cebu Province is situated at the east of Negros and west of Bohol island. Many Taiwanese would mistake Bohol as part of Cebu since tourists have to pass by Cebu port to reach Bohol but anyways, they’re both in Central Visayas.
Cebu is a big province so I thought of sharing the places I visited this year and hope you guys will enjoy the trip.
1. Barangay Lutopan Hall Rainbow Stairs
This cute Rainbow Stairs in Lutopan Barangay Hall is a new attraction in the village. You can visit Lutopan by public buses or V-hire. Lutopan is about an hour away from Cebu City so it’s pretty easy and near to come here. Lutopan has other attractions too so you can actually not just have an instagramable pose here at this stairs, you can go to nearby tourist spots as well!
2. Mount Carmel Parish Catholic Church in Lutopan
Since the completion of this church a few years ago, this has been one of the local tourist attraction in Lutopan or also known as Barangay DAS. DAS stands for Don Andres Soriano. It’s undeniable that this parish is indeed an eye catcher. You can’t just stare at it because you will surely want a glimpse of it again on a pic!
There are private cars and vans available on an Uber App. You can schedule a Day Tour in Toledo City Cebu and never forget to include this stunning church in Lutopan on your list.
3. DAS Public Plaza in Lutopan
This mini park in front of the church is also a great spot for picture taking. At my background it says, ” I Love DAS” which also means I love Lutopan, the official name of the place. There are so many street foods and shops in the area so you’ll surely enjoy strolling while eating a cotton candy or something.
4. Jollibee anywhere in Cebu
I also don’t know why I have to include this in the list but just in case one of you has not yet been to the Philippines, Jollibee is a Filipino Fast Food chain that’s available nationwide. The price is just so right and the flavor is truly original Filipino. My personal favorite is their Burger Steak but don’t skip the fried chicken! It’s absolutely delicious.
5. Naga Boardwalk and Park
I feel so sorry to Naga Boardwalk and Park because this is the only decent photo I have but if you guys google about this place, you will see so many beautiful posts about it.
This place is kid and elderly friendly. There’s a parking area so you don’t have to worry about towing. I think the main goal of coming to this place is a nice meal and a get together with a nice view. Just be sure you guys come here earlier. I went here around eight in the evening and many of the establishments are closed except for the few street foods.
Naga is near Cebu City so you can drop by here for a dinner before embarking on another journey. Again, a private car or van would make your day tour in another places other than Cebu City convenient since places to go to entails quite a bit of a road trip.
6. Toledo City Hall
This is again another sight to behold in the city of Toledo. This beautiful Toledo City Hall is the newest landmark since this building is newly constructed and from then on, local tourists are attracted by its simple yet elegant design.
People from Toledo surely take pride with their new city hall and I would gladly agree with them. It is indeed what they say it is.
7. Toledo Sports Complex
Toledo Sports Complex can house as many as 5000 people or even double. It was the venue of a recent international beauty pageant and to me, it is a great milestone for Toledo to host such a prestigious event.
I was allowed to enter for free and walk around the gigantic complex. This kind of infrastructure in Toledo City is something to be very proud of. It’s about time that the international tourists would know more about this wonderful place.
8. Lantaw-Lantaw Restaurant
Lantaw-Lantaw Restaurant is a sweet and delicious side trip in Toledo City. Big thanks to my brother Randy Restauro for introducing the place and it never disappointed me. The food was great, the sea view was so relaxing and most of all the staff was kind and very much accommodating.

You can have a reservation on their official Facebook page or walk in. They have a lot of tables available as well as cottages for groups. As for my experience, I chose the table at the seaside view perfect for relaxation and soul searching while enjoying their tasty pork barbeque.
9. Monastery of the Holy Eucharist Simala Sibonga Cebu
Monastery of the Holy Eucharist Simala Sibonga Cebu 2024 Official FB Page: https://www.facebook.com/SimalaLindogonChurchSibonga
The local tourists popularly call this monastery as Simala. Filipinos initially go to this church for prayer intentions and healing. Because of its stunning design and landscape, this church in Simala has become known nationwide thus included in Cebu Day Tour services. The day tour services in Cebu has varied prices depending on the route.
I was able to inquire from our hotel in Cebu and the most affordable offer for Cebu Day Tour is around 4000 to 4500 pesos and Simala is a special spot. Just a reminder, you will not be allowed to enter if you wear a revealing clothing like spaghetti strap tank tops, mini skirts or skimpy shorts. If you happen to wear shortpants, there are scarves sold at the entrance so you can use it to wrap around your waist.
There’s no entrance fee. You are free to join the mass and visit the miraculous Virgin Mary. You will have to be patient because you will surely expect a long queue for the kissing of the image. If you wish to offer for the holy mass, you can give any amount that you wish. They also sell candles with different colors that would correspond to your intention.
10. Biga CCC Dumping Site
This is an adventure worth the long ride from Toledo City. There are strict rules in entering the Biga village so our tour guide, my brother Randy decided to take the central road and have a quick detour at this dumping site still located in Biga but at the remote area.
Here I saw the vast dumping site and the areas mined by Carmen Copper Corporation or CCC. If you have kids, you can also let them check some rocks and see the composition of each rocks. Some has glitters on them, some with crystal like characteristics but according to my brother, these are all waste and so it is at the dumping site.
11. Buwakan ni Alejandra (Alejandra’s Flower Garden) Balamban
Buwakan ni Alejandra contact no. +639218129664
This is another popular destination in Cebu located in Balamban along the transcentral highway. It will surely be a long ride from Cebu City but the place is worth a visit. The entrance fee is 100 pesos per person and you can stroll the whole garden without a time limit.
What I enjoyed the most was the food. They have a restaurant at the viewing deck and they also offer a piso wifi station. I am not sure if I should share this but of all the places I paid entrance fee with, I think Alejandra gave justice to my ticket through its comfort room. You can actually wash your hands with flowing water and the toilet is tidy. As a Taiwanese, it is a plus point for me to be able to use a clean CR or comfort room in Cebu.

13. Cebu Capitol Hall
This is an attraction at the heart of the city. Cebu’s Capitol Hall seems to be perfectly situated between the downtown and uptown area. The design has a historical background but one thing’s for sure, it’s beautiful and surely instagramable.
I went inside the Capitol Hall and found a great statue of Cebu’s hero Lapu-lapu. The exit of the capitol also offers a great place for photography. So to all Cebuanos, come to Cebu Capitol Hall and share your wonderful photo on your social media too.
14. Magellan’s Cross Cebu City
Magellan’s Cross has always been an attraction in Cebu City for years now and it is surely one of the destinations for Cebu Day Tour. Is it worth a visit? I believe so. It has a historical significance in Cebu and it is also easy to reach so there’s no reason not to include this in your itinerary.
15. SM Seaside Mall Cebu
SM Seaside Mall photo in 2024
I feel sad not having enough time exploring this gigantic mall in Talisay Cebu but I recommend this place to you if you want to spend a day in a mall. It has so many shops and other entertainment centers for the kids and the elderlies. The place is too big that I was even lost looking for the entrance I went in. I ended up at the seaside view. So, be sure you are good at remembering your way in and out so you won’t be like me.
16. Hidden Valley Beach Resort Tajao Pinamungahan Cebu
Hidden Valley Beach Resort 2024
A simple staycation in Cebu would mean a trip to Tajao Pinamungahan. You can stay at Hidden Valley Beach Resort in the most affordable price. They have a swimming pool and a beach front. They also offer breakfast to the guests just be sure to inquire if it’s included in your reservation.
