Fun 2 Days and 1 Night in Taichung

Fun 2 Days and 1 Night in Taichung

People somewhere are convincing me to use AI on my articles so I could enjoy my free time and have every published post assisted by an Artificial Intelligence. I say “No” without thinking twice or thrice. I am not trained to be a blogger nor a journalist but with my passion on sharing the great stuffs I experience and see in life as a whole, I would rather have my readers have an imperfect grammar than please them with an AI’s perfect work. An AI tool maybe flawless but me doing all the writings on my own gives that personal touch that’s felt by the heart.

I love traveling most especially when I feel sad or tired. I get exhausted too doing the same routines each day and sometimes seeing something different from the normal adds more motivation to my passion in writing. Well, technically people specifically call it “blogging” now.

Do you know that feeling when you just want to escape from your unchangeable reality, that monotonous schedule to get by day by day and you feel like you need a boost because a cup of coffee can’t do the trick anymore? An unplanned getaway somewhere might help. Might heal. Might.

Day One Fun 2 Days and 1 Night in Taichung

1st Stop Themed Service Stop at Hukou Sanrio Characters

If you travel from Taipei, Hukou Service Stop to the South would probably be the first and best stop to have. In my 17 years in Taiwan, I witnessed the improvement in this Hukou Service Stop everytime I visit. Last May 26, 2024 made my eyes popped out as I saw cute Sanrio Characters everywhere.

I’m not a Sanrio fan but isn’t it nice to relax, eat, retouch in a place where you see adorable things? I mean, what’s not to like aye?

Hukuo Service Stop operator is Nan Ren Hu Co. Ltd. and the contact number is (886)036960781. The email address in case of any emergency inquiry is [email protected].

2nd Stop at Fule Hakannese Restaurant Miaoli

What is Hakka Food?

Hakka food ingredients are very similar with the food eaten by the Han majority during Chinese New Year, proving its close relation to Han culture in ancient times. However, based on Hakka cooking techniques and flavoring methods, it is clear that the unique Hakka food culture is derived from the adaptation to environmental changes and from overcoming life’s hardships.

Hakka dishes have the following features: First, Hakka food emphasizes mountain delicacies but very little seafood. Most of the Hakka minority lived in mountainous areas, thus it was natural that there were more mountain delicacies and meat than seafood and fish. Second, Hakka food emphasizes the ingredients of the dishes and disregards presentation. There are a large number of Hakka dishes that do not consider how the food is presented on the plate. This is a reflection of the Hakka’s practicality, which shuns showmanship in favor of down-to-earth ingredients. Third, Hakka dishes emphasizes the original taste of the food rather than adding many flavorings.

This Fu Le Mian Dian or Fule Hakkanesse Restaurant is famous to the local tourists or to the Taiwanese people so expect a long queue before you can have a taste of this delicious Hakka food.

As to my experience, although I waited for quite a stretch of time, I didn’t feel bored at all because the place is just too beautiful not to take some pictures while killing the time.

If you’re a foodie and a nature enthusiast, this place is worthy of your time. Miaoli gives you that countryside feels and it’s truly refreshing to people like me who lives in the busy life in the city.

3rd Stop Airline Inn Taichung

It isn’t too long ago since the last time I boarded the plane and flew outside Taiwan. I went to the Philippines twice, in February and March and yet there’s this longing to fly again. It’s a blessing in disguise that I know Klook for travels and hotels so I decided to search a place and found this Airline Themed Hotel.

If you gauge this place on the facade, you’d probably skip the plan of staycation and look for something else until you read the reviews and give it a try.

My stay at Airline Inn Taichung is the star of my days in the city. It’s just too comfortable and enjoyable for me. There’s a parking space, wifi, huge and spacious room, breakfast and most of all the 24-hour snacks. A 4-star hotel that gave me more than what I expected. I mean, guys you just have to book this hotel!

(To book Airline Inn click this link and use HELLOPHILTAI for the promo code: https://www.klook.com/zh-TW/hotels/detail/434824-airline-inn–kaohsiung-station/)

Location: No.22, Sec. 1, Meicun Rd., West Dist., Taichung City 403, Taiwan

Website: Airline Inn Green Parkway https://www.airlineinn.com/GPW/en/about_us.php

You see this Airplane window design upon entering the hotel and also on the 5th floor. I assume this is the design every floor.

Really loved that feeling of being inside a plane minus the flying above the ground.

Whatever you say, I just love the elevator too. It’s like “boarding my gate” feels.

Need not to say more about the room. It’s so big, neat and just so comfy! You can even have a party here with the amount of space. Remarkable!

Fun 2 Days and 1 Night in Taichung

There’s like a lounge at the fifth floor with computers and printers. Makes it more like a flight attendant and pilot room. Comfy times ten!

4th Stop Calligraphy Greenway and Park 2

Staying at Airline Inn’s advantage is a walking distance away from the famous Calligraphy Greenway and the new Park 2 in the city of Taichung. If you love handicrafts and unique stuffs, Calligraphy Greenway is for you but if you’re into chill and laid back lifestyle, art and fun stuffs, visit Park 2.

Fun 2 Days and 1 Night in Taichung

I think this place suits my mood for the day. I just want to relax and enjoy sightseeing while having an endurable walk along the vast green grass.

5th Stop Feng Chia Night Market

The biggest night market in Taiwan. So much food to try and so many stores to see and shop. The most famous egg pancake (dan bin) and Takoyaki (Zhangyu Shao) are in Feng Chia too. It really is fun in Taichung Taiwan!

Fun 2 Days and 1 Night in Taichung

To be honest, I should call myself a failed blogger and a video content creator because I always fail to take photos and videos of everything I eat and do. That’s why I write to supply what I cannot show on the photos. I eat a lot in a night market and I really just enjoy eating so I forget to record this natural phenomenon often. Maybe the positive side is I give that decision to the readers to go to the place and experience first hand.

Day Two Fun 2 Days and 1 Night in Taichung

1st Stop Painted Animation Lane

City Street Art: Painted Animation Lane in Taichung City

Located in West District and a bit far from other tourist attractions in Taichung City, it took about 30 minutes to walk from Taichung main station to Painted Animation Lane (動漫彩繪巷 in Mandarin). It’s a must-not-miss mural gathering for all animation and cartoon lovers. The lane isn’t very long but all the beloved characters on the walls make it a fun land to visit!

This is one of my favorite tourist spots in Taichung City. The side trip that’s worth of your time if you are a fan of Japanese animations. Few of the murals close to my heart and age are One Piece, The Spy Family, Dragon Ball Z and the Ghost Hunter. Give time to this painted lane and see for yourself.

2nd Stop Taroko Mall Taichung

Taroko Mall is one of the largest shopping malls in Taichung City. It was originally run by De An Company as De An Mall. Renamed MODE Mall in March 2010, the building encompasses six floors underground and eleven floors above ground. B1 and B2 levels accommodate a hypermarket and a food court. B3 to B6 levels are for parking. The eleven floors above ground are respectively themed and filled with various stores.

Taroko Mall is not the original plan for day two in Taichung but it poured and so I need to do some indoor activities instead. Taroko Mall rescued my boring day into an entertaining one because this practically has everything under the sun. It has the grown up games and the baby games perfect for the family.

Location: No. 186, Section 4, Fuxing Rd, East District, Taichung City, 401

3rd Stop Miyahara

Situated nearby Taichung Train Station on the bank of Luchuan, Miyahara is a red-brick architecture built by Miyahara Takeo, a Japanese ophthalmology doctor in 1927. It was the largest ophthalmology clinic in Taichung during the Japanese colonial period. After the surrender of Japan in 1945, Miyahara became Taichung Health Bureau. As time passed by, the suspended Health Bureau slowly decayed and became an unused dangerous building.

Fun 2 Days and 1 Night in Taichung

Fortunately, Dawn Cake, a pastry company renowned for its pineapple cakes, acquired the building and preserved Miyahara’s original red-brick walls and archway. The interior decor was redesigned like Hogwarts in the movie Harry Potter. The water well in the middle of the building is redecorated into a modern-looking fundraising box made of glass.
Visitors to Miyahara are not only recommended to appreciate the details of the historic architecture but also try Dawn Cake’s signature ice cream, bubble tea and pastries wrapped in nostalgic packings!

This isn’t my first time in Miyahara but I still enjoy their delicious ice cream. It’s definitely a must in the city apart from the jaw dropping interior design of the building.

Fun 2 Days and 1 Night in Taichung

There’s no denying that Miyahara staffs wear a very cute uniform.

4th Stop Taichung Station Railway Cultural Park

I was so surprised to witness the great difference in Taichung Station. The last time I was in Taichung, the place was still under renovation and didn’t know it could turn out to be so amazing and IG-worthy. I want to visit this place again and do a thorough content about this.

This was the cute window of the train situated at Taichung Station. You can actually go inside the train and buy some cute souvenirs.

An IG-worthy photo spot here at Taichung Station Railway Cultural Park. What you see here is what you get on the actual.

Fun 2 Days and 1 Night in Taichung

Such a wonderful sight to behold. This old station structure gives that vibe like no other in the city of Taichung.

Fun 2 Days and 1 Night in Taichung

That concluded my 2 days and 1 night in Taichung. It’s not much for a rest from my busy life in Taipei but it’s worth it. I felt renewed, refreshed and refilled with joy, love and hope.

Sometimes getting away from the usual helps you heal or perhaps just make you feel a bit better. To all of you who are silent suffering, I understand. I am not perfect, I am flawed. I accept it and I will do better in what I do because I know there is always a chance to improve the moment we breathe and every single inhale means hope.
